Chapter 5

4th Course - (3rd Dec. 2001 ~ 31 Dec. 2001)

Morning - Academic Preparation A2 Teacher (Ron)
Afternoon - Public Speaking Teacher (Nick)

Ron - 33 years old, Negro Canadian teacher. In all the teachers, I like to share this opinions. Even thought he is single, but he has his own ideas about relationship. The only one sofa at ILSC class was A2 Academic Preparation class.

Sheila -19 years old. From China. Hoiwa-22 years old. From Africa. Tokumi - 23 years old. From Japan. Javier - 28 years old. From Argentina. Laura - 17 years old. From Switzerland, look like a bobby doll. Dunia - 32 years old. She is a piano teacher and just married with Canadian husband. Pomin - 23 years old. From Korea. I had no problem to talk with people but still hard for me writing in English.

We had showed everybody's talent. I sing a Chinese song "The moon representative my heart."
"Listen now " Ron thought this is a very beautiful song, I had sing for many times afterwards.
Ron has a lot of body languages and face exaggerates expression. ^_^ I had remembered he said to me," It's a crime if your skirt shorter, you need to go to jail." Ha ha....I like his super big shine smile and he said, "Cony! This is free for you. Free stuff.” He also told us that he used to dance in night club. Once when he danced but hurt his knee in the middle of dancing poor, he pretended dance another style then went back to seats. He quitted dancing then.

Nick was my Public Speaking teacher. - 28 years old, Italy Canadian. He looked really mature, I couldn't believe he just one year older than me. Do you believe it? He even showed us his ID. Ha ha..... He taught us how to communicative without talking, only use body language. We had many performance and practice in class all the time. This was why I usually said learning English isn't only studying in front of the desk or sitting in Classes.

I had gone to inside rock climbing but I lost photos, I was ok to do that. Before my second time to Whistler, Cecile and Spain Jorge needed to go back to Spain. That was my first time cried in Vancouver. It was too sad to say goodbye for good friends.

Whistler activity with Andrea, Dmitri, Joon sir, and Yoshie went together. Compare with last time, I had snowboarding well. Joon sir and I ,this two professional beginners from the mountain top (3000m high) down to the ground. It was unforgettable amazing experience.

Dmitri - 25 years old. From Russia. He had married with Russian girlfriend "Elena" at Vancouver. He impressed a lot and had said " -20 degree is warm but -40 degree is really cold." Yoshie and I weren’t understood what's different between -20 and -40 degree. The same cold. But after Yoshie had gone to see the Northen light. She told me it's a huge big different. Finally, we understood Dmitri was making a joke.

Rob bought me a glass of "151" to celebrate my birthday. It's a 70% alcohol; he told me Canadian all drink this to celebrate their birthday. I had drunk it directly, this one is really HOT. I felt like burning inside my body. This was another "first" time experience.

This month I had become Jorge's girlfriend and we went out all the time. "Mexico" is far away from Taiwan, I hadn't imagined how connection between Mexico and I. This is "destiny". One time, we went to Hooters Bar and drunk a lot of beers and two bottles of Smirn of Ice for both of us. Then went to another night club and drank two class of Tequila wine. Jorge taught me how to drink Tequila with lemon. We had danced and drank very much, not drunk at all. Jorge is really a good dancer. I have cherished this sweet memory.

There were full of our footmark in downtown Vancouver. How romantic time it was! Why did I like him? I thought must be the right feeling at the right time. Even he is 5 years younger than me but he treat me well like a gentleman take care of me. Make me like a princess and expect my thinking, always feel free to be myself. I told him, he like a action dreamer as me. Especially, I like his big and black eye, when you see his eye, I got some power from them. Just want to fall in love; I didn't want to think too much. Love is love, not for getting married. This is homestay father Ramesh told me. Yes, different culture different thinking way this was what I had learned from Jorge.

Another said goodbye again so soon. After Cecile left, Jorge went back, too. I went to the airport to say goodbye with him. We don't know when we will meet again. So we cried and cried....Then the fact is. If you really want to do something, you will try to make it no matter how difficult it is. We had met each other in a month. Yoshie and I moved to Rob's house. There was another Korean roommate "Seong Ah" - 30years old. Her personality is fine. Typical Korean woman. At the beginning, we had good time to have parties and go to school together.

Dany - one part of my important Vancouver life. We had known each other at very early time. I knew I have a buddy in Brazil now. Even he is not pretty friend for me but who is pretty. He left on 11th Jan. 2002; I went to the airport said goodbye to him. Oh! My god. He was crying too much. Even though I was sad but I cheered him up. Tissue couldn't fellow his tears. You know what. After all the tears. His plane delayed and couldn't catch another changed plane. It means he needs to stay one more day in Vancouver. I stayed there until his homestay to pick him back to house. The second day, I didn't go again. Finally, he went back to Brazil.

During this moment, I was happy to have so many memories and sad about saying goodbye to friends all the time. I know we have a lot of connection between us. I have known it's not the end, it's just a beginning.

Chapter 4

3rd Course - (5th Nov. 2001 ~ 2nd Dec. 2001)

Morning - Communication A1　Teacher (Michael / Joanna)
Afternoon - Grammar 3 Teacher (Galina)

There are a lot of different courses but I don't want to take too much pressure on myself. I always had chosen the relax one. I want to communicate with people without problems. A1 is the highest level in communication course. My classmates use vocabularies and sentences are better than any other classes. BUT it's good for me to improve myself. Especially, my teacher Michael corrects me a lot. Ex:"TH" pronunciation I had leaned it. There is another assistant teacher, (She is learning how to teacher highest level students.) We have two teachers to correct and teach us. My English levels improve a lot in A1 class, such like fly to the sky. Ha ha ha....

Jimena was in the same class again, she like a little cute sister. Her dream is to be an auto race driver, but she knows it's hard without training from childhood. You will find everybody as a dreamer, expect every dream and try to make dream come true.

Marta - 25 years old. Gaby's best friend. From Spain. She speaks slowly and gentle. She is Cecile and Spain Jorge's friend, too. In ILSC, we are easy to be classmates and friends. Cony's rule: Friends' friends equal to friends. Right?

Rebecca - 22 years old. From Switzerland. She has a Brazilian boyfriend that she had met in the Roxy pub. When they fist meet I was there. The Roxy pub is a very famous dancing pub for ILSC school students. Especially students go to Lady's night on Wednesday.

Balthazar - 18 years old. From French. A little funny boy and play boy. Ha ha... French romantic. She was tht beutiful nurese on Halloween. Super sexy pretty.

Other classmates: Asako- 22 (Japan), Claudia - 35 (Mexico).

There was another student from Quebec, Canada, name "Emily". She looked cold and corrected Claudia's pronunciation not in polite way and said felt her English level was too good. I don't like this kind of pround people at all.

There are 13 students from Spain, French, Switzerland, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Japan, Korea, Canada (French area) and Taiwan, 10 countries. This is a special class like a little UN.

The grammar teacher "Galina" is a hot and sexy woman. She always dresses up and wear high heel. Attractive teaching way has make boring grammar into funny.

Andrea - 28 years old. From Venice, Italy. The most romantic city in the world, he said. He is talkative and funny, too. He has become my Italian brother. I hadn't believed somebody can say "I love you" like a greeting. Wow! Andrea had made me surprised about him.

My classmates and I always went out. Once I had taken them to Hong’s where the famous Chinese restaurant in Vancouver is. There is only one Chinese "Me", they don't know too much about Chinese food even some of them were the first time to try it. It was so funny to see them eating with chopsticks. Cecile had a question “What is vegetarian chicken?" Chicken is chicken. Why do Chinese have chicken but vegetarian? We had so much fun to eat Chinese food. Anyway, about Chinese, it's all mystification for them.

In all the parties, my only one time to be totally drunk was in Cambie Bar. Because on that whole day. I didn't feel good t and ate something. I hadn't eaten any food before drinking, so I was drunk after few bottles of beer and spit out. Ha ha... Joan and Harry took me home, thanks for my good friends. I remembered I said to homestay family, "I am drunk, talk to you tomorrow." I didn't take a shower or change my cloth. I had fallen down to my bed directly without waking up during the night. I didn't have handover that was another "first" time experience. Many friends saw me drunk but I didn't do something stupid. Ha ha.... *^_^*

I had attended Rob school activities, one of them was three days two nights to Tofino Island. There was only 6 students and Rob taken a Van to there. Tofino Island is bigger than Taiwan. I have met the most important friend "Yoshie" in my life.

Yoshie - 36 years. From Japan. She is not pretty but with the most beautiful personality inside. (We all aren't that kind of pretty women.)I have good sixth sense to make friends. I like somebody or not by first seen and conversation. We have had close friendship until now. We become roommates and bedmates for five months. After I come back to Taiwan, we e had many times met each other in Japan, Taiwan, Vancouver and Italy.

Undina - 33 years old. From German. She had been to many counties and liked to take photos. Her life philosophy is “Enjoy” right now then plans the future. I like to be balance now and future. I am still Chinese inside somehow.

Toby - 22 years old. From Swizterland. Little boy like homestay Sunil's feeling for me. We had fun all the time but I had lost his contact. If somebody knows him please tell me, thanks.

Heiko - 35 years old. From German. He look serious but very gentleman. Germany are not that hot outside feeling. You need to know each other more; they will talk to you in deeply.

Dinar - 23 years old. From Swizerland. Nice personally and sweet smile on her face all the day. She was impressed me about being full of energy, happy and easy get along with Asian girl.

I would like to do sky diving but the weather wasn't good to do it at Ninaimo. We had gone to Casino and I won the 30 CAD.

The most important thing was Yoshie and I become good friends. We decided to move out and live together in Rob's house to save money, so we become roommates and bedmates. At 2001, homestay fee is 672 CAD a month including everything. We share a room without food is 300 CAD. It's not cheap but Rob's house is more near downtown, we thought we will easier to go out and didn't worry to come home late. Ha ha.... But after move out, we didn't go out that often. About Saving money, it spent more to cook by ourselves. Anyway, I had enjoyed lived with Yoshie, we usually talked until sleep almost everyday. We had live in Rob's house for three months then Yoshie and I moved to my homesaty.

Another Rob's activity was two days one night "Snowboarding in Whistler". There was the first time for me to see real snowing. It was different from seeing Columbia Ice field. When snow fall down to my hand, wow, which feeling is hard to say. Dany joined this activity, too. We looked like two little kids dancing and singing under snowing. Snowboard is a board. Ha ha... I had fallen down more than 100 times at the first day. But I had tried hard. People asked me about my snowboard level, I always said, "I am professional...beginner."）I am too small for big Canadian, even my coach lift me up as a snowboard.

The second day, I had met Jorge and his friend Beto. There were James (Korean), Jorge, Beto, Dany and I snowboarded from Black Comb Mountain. (Another mountain in Whistler) Five people were the same poor snowboard level. Ha ha.... James and I were hungry, then ate hot noodle first. Finally, I had played the snowboard not snowboard played me. If you asked me about “Do you feel cold to do snowboarding?" I tell you, snowboarding make you "HOT".

Three days and two nights travel to Portland, USA. Cecil and Spain Jorge went together. There is not enough to see NBA game for one time. I wanted to do everything at least two times. This time I saw Scott Pippen. My idol is Michael Jordan, but Rob told me the games with Jordan, tickets need to book in a year. Portland is a small, quiet not that busy city, I like here.

It was so hard to tell homestay family that I want to move out but they expect my decision and wish me everything going well. They told me come back home if I want. Even I move out, but my heart lost in Homestay. That is my Vancouver and family I had known it after three months.

I almost had a activity each week, I had spent a lot of money but in cheapest way learning from life. Playing is better than reading. Taking an action is better than thinking. Enjoy the moment won't regret anything is my principle. How do you think bout it?

Chapter 3

2nd Course - (8th Oct. 2001 ~ 4th Nov. 2001)

Morning - Communication I3　Teacher (Susan)
Afternoon - Vocabulary 2 Teacher (Jane)

This is my second time to choose communication class, but different teacher got different way to teach students. This class is I3, students level are higher. We can talk topic deeper. Susan is my teacher, with smile all the time. We have gone out for Friday classes and games in classes. Really had fun!

My communication classmates,

Cecile - 27 years old. From Barcelona, Spain. My best friend in Spain. (She has married to another ILSC classmate "Pascal" now). She is 180cm high, I am just 158cm. Compare with Cecile, I like a basement and she is always the second floor. I have named her a Chinese name "尚大女". It means very big woman. I really like her; we still contact each other until now.

Gaby - 25 years old. From Mexico. She cooks well. One day, she brought Mexico food "Tacos" to all the classmates. Wow! Super good. After we know each other well, we had a lot of parties. She also dance well, very sexy. I think Latin American all can dance well by nature.

Jimena - 19 years old. From Colombia. She is a cute teenager. She used to say " I like your Chinese style dress, pants." She gave me a kiss on the cheek for each side whenever we meet and say goodbye. This is Colombia way. Some counties are three or just one time. But girls only. Boys don't kiss each other to say hi.

Other classmates: Andre, Tomoko, Go, and Korean classmates.

We had discussed some interesting topic, ex: Advantage of men and women. I always tried to think by English way. My English improved a little bite.

My communication classmates,

Soohee - 26 years old. From Korea. She is a English at kindergarten. Soohee is pretty and polite. I like this kind of girls. Especially, she become Bastien's girlfriend. We become very close friend, too. (few years later, I visited Korea, She took a plane to meet me in Seoul, Korea. So touched.)

It was so early to finish class at 2:30PM. Especially, the weather in Oct., it's totally dark around 8 o'clock. Dany and I usually go out together for talking and shopping. He has bought 40 airplane models and 8 automobile models before he went back to Brazil. I think Canadian government needs to give him an award for his contribution. Ha ha... I always remember Dany corrected my pronunciation, "Problem" this word. We had a lot of fun at that time. He also joined a band as a drum player. He had played drum to show me. Really a good player.

On Halloween, there are many friends go to a parade in downtown Vancouver. We have seen much dress up people. This was my first time to see this kind of parade. Foreigners like to enjoy their holidays. It's very different from Taiwanese.

There is another friend, "Joe" Cantonese Canadian who I know him on ICQ in Taiwan. We become friends after I go to Vancouver. Hei, Joe's friend, very talkative and easy to get along with. Sometime, we go to night clubs to dance and drink with my classmates. They all speak English, Cantonese and Chinese well. There is no problem to communicate with each other.

At Cambie Bar, I have met another Jorge, Mexican, 23 years old. He had become my boyfriend. We had amazing time and unforgettable memories together. You will see photos later. He had taught me Spanish but I didn't learn well. Too difficult pronunciation for me.

School activity teacher - Rob. He has been to China for a year, can speak some Chinese and like to say "kiss my ass" in Chinese to make fun with people. He always said to me, after drinking, my English is totally perfect. We become good friends and become housemates later.

Beside night club activities, I had started to join many school activities which are good for health. My fist time ice skating went with Joan and Dany. Ice Hockey games were exciting. I had watched two live games that is a good experience for me. There are many "first" time activities in Vancouver.

Rob's activity. Two days one night to Seattle, USA. One of my dreams is watching a live NBA game. It takes two hours by bus from ILSC to Seattle. People Mountain People Sea I must said about the NBA game.

"Save money" is the principle for school activity. We stayed in a Youth hotel. I had found a Taiwan flag. Wow! I excited to see the symbol of Taiwan in other country.
